LEGO Star Wars Design Lead gets a Force-ful surprise for 25th work-iversary

LEGO Star Wars Design Lead Jens Kronvold Frederiksen was given a very on-brand surprise for his 25th anniversary of working for the LEGO Group.

Heading up the design team for the LEGO Star Wars theme, Jens celebrated 25 years at the LEGO Group the other day, which naturally needed a big event to commemorate it. In keeping with the theme he leads, the LEGO Group brought in various Star Wars characters played by convincing actors, ranging from Kylo Ren and Darth Vader to a troop of Stormtroopers and a Jawa.

“LEGO Star Wars Design Lead Jens Kronvold Frederiksen (and everyone else in his office building) got a very ‘awakening’ surprise the other day, when the 501st Legion was summoned by his team to celebrate his 25th jubilee,” wrote the LEGO Group on its LinkedIn page. “May the Force be with you, Jens.”

In response to the post from the LEGO Group, Jens also commented on the images, saying: “Thank you all! It was a fantastic celebration of my 25th anniversary, and I had the most wonderful day! Thank you to all my wonderful colleagues!

“One of the highlights of the day, was when Doug Chiang and Dave Filoni appeared on screen and congratulated me!! I am so happy having been here in this fantastic company for 25 years now, and I am so grateful that I have spent most of them working with the fantastic LEGO Star Wars franchise!”

For any Star Wars fan, having two Lucasfilm heavyweights like VP Chiang and executive producer Filoni appear on your screen would be a dream come true. Well deserved, Jens, and happy 25 years from us as well!

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
