LEGO Star Wars’ Droideka may be on same trajectory as Super Battle Droid
The journey of the LEGO Star Wars Super Battle Droid’s return may be a path that the Droideka is soon to follow, according to new rumours.
2015 saw the release of the last Super Battle Droid figure in its original iteration, featured in 75085 Hailfire Droid from 2015. This year, the intimidating droids returned with a new body element in 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack. A similarly triumphant comeback is now rumoured for the Droideka too.
Droidekas, also known as Destroyer Droids, are rumoured to be the focus of 75381 Droideka. New rumours from Instagram user exabrickslegogo_ state this 583-piece set could feature a buildable ball droid, a display stand, an information plaque and a minifigure-scale Droideka.
Notably, the LEGO Droideka last featured in 2015’s 75092 Naboo Starfighter and this defensive droid is rumoured to take the same path to returning as the Super Battle Droid. The last appearance of a Droideka in LEGO Star Wars was technically as a magazine gift in 2018 but given that set’s limited availability and the fact that it couldn’t roll up into a ball, it’s not quite the same as that of 75092 Naboo Starfighter.
Provided the rumours are accurate, 2024 could see the return of not one but two of the most iconic droids in Star Wars history in LEGO and during the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars no less. The Droideka likely wouldn’t need any new parts either, though they could help to streamline the design and its signature feature.
75381 Droideka remains a rumour at the time of writing and should be taken with caution. It’s reported for release on May 1, 2024, for $64.99. It’s not the only LEGO Star Wars newly rumoured either and you can find out what else is reported in the following table.
