More details on rumoured LEGO Star Wars May 2024 wave

More details have emerged on a handful of the LEGO Star Wars sets said to be coming our way in May 2024, including 75380 Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama and 75381 Droideka.

The next wave of LEGO Star Wars sets to hit shelves will be landing in March, consisting of three midi-scale ships (now branded under the Starship Collection), a new buildable R2-D2 and a playset recreating the opening scenes of A New Hope. But before the dust has time to settle on that quintet, the LEGO Group will be readying an encore in time for May the 4th.

Also known as Star Wars Day, May the 4th is typically the biggest event in the calendar for a galaxy far, far away – and certainly where the LEGO Group is concerned. Promos often include double points, discounts on selected sets and free gifts, of which three are rumoured for 2024. But those offers are also joined by a cavalcade of new sets, and so it (apparently) goes for this May.

Instagram user exabrickslegogo_ has now shared more information on a handful of the LEGO Star Wars sets expected to debut in May 2024 (via brick_clicker). Check out all the updated details on these models below, and scroll to the bottom of the page for a complete round-up of the entire LEGO Star Wars 2024 slate as it stands right now.

40676 The Phantom Menace BrickHeadz Collection

Price: $54.99 Pieces: 732 Release date: May 1, 2024

While that set title may still not be final – BrickHeadz sets don’t usually include the word ‘BrickHeadz’ in their names – 40676 The Phantom Menace BrickHeadz Collection is now rumoured to include six different characters across 732 pieces. Those are Qui-Gon Jinn, Darth Maul, Queen Amidala, Jar Jar Binks, Captain Panaka and Anakin Skywalker in his podracing gear. Pour one out for Obi-Wan Kenobi.

75380 Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama

Price: $69.99 Pieces: 718 Release date: May 1, 2024

As long suspected from its rumoured price and piece count, 75380 Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama is said to be a microscale recreation of The Phantom Menace’s most thrilling set piece. It’s specifically thought to depict the moment Anakin and Sebulba’s podracers fly through Arch Canyon, which should give the model more to work with from a terrain perspective.

75381 Droideka

Price: $64.99 Pieces: 583 Release date: May 1, 2024

75381 Droideka is still reported to consist of a buildable ball droid, but the latest word on the 583-piece set is that it will indeed include a display stand, information plaque and – best of all – a minifigure-scale Droideka. That would mark our first version of this droid at that scale since 2015, repeating the release pattern of the Super Battle Droid. It’s a good year to be a droid collector, basically.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
