SpongeBob SquarePants voice actor Tom Kenny has taken to social media to reveal just how excited he is about two upcoming LEGO sets based on the animated show.
The LEGO Group welcomed the return of SpongeBob SquarePants to its portfolio yesterday, with the official reveal of two upcoming sets. Also celebrating the Nickelodeon animated character’s imminent reappearance was voice actor Tom Kenny, who’s been enthusing over the new models on social media.
The vocal talent behind SpongeBob SquarePants is featured in a promotional Instagram video for the LEGO sets, which dropped as part of yesterday’s official inaugural SpongeBob Day celebrations.
“Look what I built – we got the whole neighbourhood here!” said Tom, while taking a closer look at 11386 SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom. “The famous pineapple house, Squidward’s Easter Island head and Patrick’s rock. It’s not a boulder, it’s a rock!”
“Wow, this comes with everything. It’s fully loaded with all the extras. We have Jellyfish Fields, we got DoodleBob (and he comes with a magic pencil) and we got the Patrick minifig. And from the very first episode, SpongeBob’s diving board above his head.”
The voice actor also discussed 40858 SpongeBob SquarePants Figure, which represents the first-ever LEGO BrickHeadz version of Stephen Hillenburg’s iconic creation.
“Look at this little guy,” exclaimed Tom. “They call him a ‘BrickHeadz’ but we all know him as our birthday boy. Man, LEGO did him right. They got the buck teeth, the tie, his little square pants – brick pants? This is the best day ever!”
