LEGO Star Wars Jango Fett’s Starship includes video game deep cut
The LEGO Star Wars designer behind 75409 Jango Fett’s Starship has revealed that there’s a deep cut reference to a video game of yesteryear in the set.
The LEGO Star Wars theme unleashed first looks at a whole fleet of new sets this week, with nine upcoming models all due to launch on May 1, 2025. Included in that galactic line-up is 75409 Jango Fett’s Starship, a 2,970-piece UCS recreation of the bounty hunter’s iconic craft.
In a recent roundtable interview with fan media, Jackson Hughes, one of the LEGO Star Wars design team behind 75409 Jango Fett’s Starship, revealed that the set includes a handful of intriguing Easter eggs to be found inside.

“In the back of the cockpit, is the door that you know canonically they would enter through,” Jackson explained. “Behind it, we’ve hidden a storage area for Jango’s blasters and there’s also a bacta tank.”
“It’s an homage to one of my favourite video games, a great one – Star Wars: Bounty Hunter,” said Jackson. “The reason I put the bacta tank in the storage section was because I was thinking specifically of collecting them in the video game.”

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter was a third-person action-adventure title released by LucasArts in 2002 for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube. In the game, players took on the role of Jango Fett himself, discovering much about the elusive character’s backstory along the way.
In addition to blasters, a flamethrower and jetpack-mounted missiles, Jango could also collect and use bacta tanks dropped by defeated enemies to heal himself if injured. Although the game wasn’t a massive success, it’s legacy clearly had a lasting impact on at least one member of the LEGO Star Wars design team.
“As I was designing [75409 Jango Fett’s Starship],” Jackson said, “I had gameplay footage of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter on my other screen, just for nostalgia.”

“Another fun Easter egg inside the cockpit is a sticker that says ‘Oovo IV’ in Aurebesh,” said the designer. “That’s the prison moon that Jango steals this ship from in [Star Wars] lore. I guess you could call it a fun little manufacturer’s label or something!”
In addition to those two Easter eggs, a second secret Aurebesh message on 75409 Jango Fett’s Starship was also revealed during the recent LEGO Star Wars May the 4th livestream. During the presentation, host Boone Langston pointed out a sticker on the exterior of the craft that says ‘No step’ in Aurebesh, a Star Wars spin on a standard safety warning featured on many real fighter craft.
75409 Jango Fett’s Starship will be blasting off for Insiders on May 1 priced at £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99, while everyone else gets a shot at it from May 4. You can find out all you need to know about the upcoming LEGO Star Wars set in our full review here.
