LEGO Star Wars K-2SO points to the future of brick-built droids

LEGO Star Wars 75434 K-2SO has been officially revealed – but we can’t help but wonder about the future of brick-built droids.

With an online reveal and sightings of the brick-built droid at Star Wars Celebration Japan, 75434 K-2SO, hot on the heels of 75416 Chopper (C1-10P), is proof that LEGO Star Wars is far from done with buildable droids. These characters tend to be better received than others – like 75371 Chewbacca, as one example – and their design does tend to be easier to translate into brick form.

That’s got Matthew, and probably every other LEGO Star Wars fan around the world, thinking about what other droids could feature. There are some deep cuts that fans might hope for but realistically not ever see, but also some logical next steps that would work well, especially when tied to certain upcoming releases like Andor or The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Head over to our YouTube channel or watch the embedded video below for all of Matthew’s theories and speculation – and don’t be shy about sharing your own hopes for the future of the growing collection.

LEGO Star Wars 75434 K-2SO is available to pre-order now and will ship from August 1, retailing for £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99 and including 845 pieces.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
