LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy hints at rumoured Jedi Bob and Darth Jar Jar

A teaser for the animated LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy special may have just hinted at a number of rumoured upcoming sets and minifigures.

As part of the LEGO Star Wars theme’s 25th anniversary in 2024, Disney+ will be releasing a ‘four-piece’ animated special that looks set to turn a galaxy far, far away completely on its head. LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy will land on the streaming service on September 13 and a first look teaser of the upcoming show can be watched below.

The special features an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (voiced by Gaten Matarazzo), who discovers a powerful artefact inside a secret Jedi temple. The mysterious Cornerstone thrusts the character into a world of adventure, with good guys turning bad, bad guys becoming good and the fate of everything in the hands of Sig.

The teaser for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy offers up glimpses of previously unseen sights such as Ewok bounty hunters, Geonosian Jedi and Rebel AT-ATs, as well as a couple of minifigures and vehicles rumoured to be arriving as physical sets sometime this year.

The special features a red-eyed Darth Jar Jar, voiced by one other than Ahmed Best, and the much-requested fan favourite character, Jedi Bob, voiced by Bobby Moynihan, as well as Mark Hamill reprising his iconic role as Luke Skywalker. LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy’s showrunners and executive producers are Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, the comedy minds behind the likes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, and The Addams Family 2.

Recent rumours suggest that Darth Jar Jar might be one of five minifigures included with the potential 75389 Dark Millennium Falcon, alongside Dark Rey, Darth Vader in white armour, evil C-3PO and an evil Chewbacca. The version of the ship seen in the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy teaser looks to be merely a recoloured version of 75192 Millennium Falcon, but the colour scheme may end up matching that of the rumoured model.

Jedi Bob on the other hand is reported to be getting his own dedicated LEGO Star Wars set at some point in 2024 in the shape of 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter. The rumoured build is said to come with the yellow-skinned Bob himself and another mystery minifigure.

In addition, 75393 X-wing and TIE Fighter is said to include the ability to swap wings between the two builds, potentially making it possible to create the Imperial X-fighters briefly glimpsed in the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, with TIE-Wings also mentioned in the description of the show.

The rumoured sets mentioned above may be launching sometime later this year, which could line up well with LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy when it lands on Disney+ on September 13. For now though, do treat all such rumours as pure speculation until they’re confirmed by the LEGO Group.
