LEGO Star Wars Return of the Jedi Dioramas visual tour and gallery

Discover the finer details of both LEGO Star Wars 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama and 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama in our visual tour and gallery.

Hot on the heels of LEGO Star Wars 75355 UCS X-wing Starfights, two new dioramas have just also been announced via the LEGO Newsroom: 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama and 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama. Both celebrate Return of the Jedi by capturing iconic scenes from the 1983 movie, forty years after it first came out.

75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama replicated the galaxy-altering fight between Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker in LEGO bricks, while 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama sees Luke and Leia flee from a Scout Trooper on a speeder bike through the lush forests of Endor.

See the details of both diorama sets in our visual tour and gallery of the two sets, laid out below.

LEGO Star Wars Return of the Jedi Dioramas build

Designed as diorama sets, both 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama and 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama are of course built to be displayed. They both come with information plaques and black bases, restricting the build to a specific snapshot of a scene as with past diorama sets. 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama leans into this still-image effect using transparent rods to ‘suspend’ the speeder bikes in the air, as if the set is truly capturing a single moment of Luke and Leia’s epic race across Endor.

75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama also uses the original layout of the fight to its advantage, focusing on the platform on which the Emperor’s throne sets. You can imagine steps leading directly up to this scene, with the diorama cutting off just where the stairs would begin.

LEGO Star Wars Return of the Jedi Dioramas comparison

With such focus on a single snapshot, the level of detail in each scene is also impressive. The towering trees are combined with greenery on the forest floor in 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama, although we could have done with some more foliage to give a sense of the speeder bikes really ducking and weaving between plants during the chase.

In 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama, the recognisable window behind the throne is replicated pretty well, along with the metallic structure of the surrounding Death Star and its machines.

LEGO Star Wars Return of the Jedi Dioramas minifigures

It looks like the first time we’ll be seeing these exact versions of both Luke Skywalkers, even if the parts used to create the figures aren’t new themselves. 75352’s Luke appears to be the same as the minifigure for 75324 Dark Trooper Attack, only without his hood. 75353’s Luke is an update to his Endor minifigure, last seen all the way back in 1999. Now, he and Leia match in tan and green outfits, complete with green visors on their helmets. Leia’s is also an update to past minifigures, with unique distressed camouflage throughout the torsos and legs.

LEGO Star Wars Return of the Jedi Dioramas display

As commemorative sets for Return of the Jedi, both sets come with plaques as part of the display base, highlighting the important fortieth anniversary. The black brick base means the dioramas are both easy to display on any flat surface, lending themselves perfectly to a LEGO Star Ward display. Despite that, they also both push the boundaries, with 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama’s domed window adding extra depth to the build and 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama’s trees giving a sense of Endor’s iconic forests.

The 807-piece LEGO Star Wars 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama and 608-piece 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama will both be available to pre-order from April 7 and available to purchase from May 1 from LEGO.com, official LEGO stories, and participating retailers priced, selling for €99.99 / $99.99 / £89.99 and €79.99 / $79.99 / £69.99 respectively.
