LEGO Star Wars: Return of the Jedi dioramas officially revealed

The LEGO Group has officially revealed two new LEGO Star Wars: Return of the Jedi dioramas to celebrate the movie’s 40th anniversary.

In what’s sure to be your first glimpse at these sets, which definitely haven’t allegedly already turned up on store shelves in some places, the LEGO Group has published a press release for 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama and 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama to its Newsroom, seemingly two days ahead of schedule (it’s dated April 7).

Both dioramas focus on classic scenes from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, which turns 40 years old in 2023. 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama captures the frenzied pursuit through Endor’s forest, while 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama recreates the dramatic showdown between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker aboard the Death Star II.

Take a closer look at both sets below…

75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama

Price: £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 Pieces: 807 Minifigures: Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine Release date: May 1 (pre-order from April 7)

A scene originally captured on a much smaller scale at the dawn of the LEGO Star Wars theme – this time in 7200 Final Duel I and 7201 Final Duel II – the epic lightsaber battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker is arguably one of the greatest moments in the entire Star Wars saga. Luke gets a brand new hairpiece in 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama (for the first time since 1999!), and this is the most detailed recreation of the Emperor’s throne yet.

75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama

Price: £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 Pieces: 608 Minifigures: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Scout Trooper Release date: May 1 (pre-order from April 7)

What more do you need from an Endor scene than two speeder bikes and a suggestion of some trees? Nothing, says the LEGO Star Wars team, and so here we have 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama, a set that most specifically calls back to 1999’s 7128 Speeder Bikes. The bikes are dark tan for the first time, while Luke and Leia are both brand new minifigures.

Both of these LEGO Star Wars dioramas will apparently be available to pre-order from LEGO.com from April 7, ahead of their release on May 1.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
