LEGO Star Wars Boarding the Tantive IV doubles up – but not how you’d think
You can extend the corridor of LEGO Star Wars 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV with multiple copies of the set – but in a surprising way.
From early reports dubbing 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV as a diorama to more recent speculation that the open Technic elements at the end lend it to creating a long corridor from multiple sets, the structure of the LEGO Star Wars set has been up for debate. The nature of the scene means it would certainly lend itself well to being doubled or even tripled up, to create that long corridor effect and give Vader more space for his Force-fuelled Sith rampage.
Now that LEGO YouTuber MandRProductions has got his hands on a set early and shared a full review, we can finally see just how the LEGO Star Wars team intends for builders to extend the brick-built hallway on board Tantive IV. Rather than continuing an open hallway, the idea is for the second copy to flip around and attach at the same point, meaning both ends will have a half wall.
While this creates a symmetrical effect when looking at 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV from above, this option probably isn’t appropriate for those wanting to display the model. Having at least one of your two copies facing backwards exposes the less-than-aesthetic back of the set, revealing the mechanism and open panelling that probably isn’t what most LEGO Star Wars collectors want to display.
For play, it does open up many more options, with more minifigures on both sides of the battle to put the various play features through their paces, flinging rebels through the air and so on. However, the fact that there will be a half wall along either side, does mean that, even during play, it could be quite hard to access the interior easily.
We’ll have to try it out in person to see exactly how 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV shakes down when you double up. You can pre-order both this set and the other four LEGO Star Wars sets on the way right now, ahead of their release on March 1.
