LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga won’t feature collectable gold bricks

Unlike many previous TT Games titles, it’s been confirmed that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga won’t feature any collectable gold bricks.

During yesterday’s exclusive IGN Fan Fest interview, TT Games director of production, Jonathan Smith, revealed that the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga won’t include the familiar shiny blocks. The fun collectibles have appeared in a number of LEGO titles from the developer, as fun (and often well-hidden) items to be found that can then be used to unlock extras in the games.

Smith confirmed that the developer wouldn’t be bringing back gold bricks for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but they would instead be introducing a new item for players to seek out. Kyber Bricks will be making their debut in the game, which is fitting considering the nature of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but also as part of the title’s upgradeable character classes.

There will be many Kyber Bricks hidden throughout the game’s levels, open world environments and available via completing specific tasks. The glowing blue bricks can be used to unlock additional abilities within each class, giving characters new special abilities.

There’s no word yet on exactly how many Kyber Bricks will be available in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but considering that LEGO Dimensions included over 1,000 (and this is a much bigger game), it could be quite a few…

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available for pre-order now and will crawl its way out of the Sarlacc Pit on April 5.

Kyber bricks is a nod to the Lego Star Wars series “The Free maker Adventures”. In the series the Kyber Saber is sought after by Palatine and Vader. It was broken into pieces and spread throughout the galaxy. The Freemakers locate these pieces, especially the youngest of the family who is strong with the Force and can sense where these Kyber crystals are. Nice touch by devs.
