LEGO Star Wars UCS Venator’s Captain Rex minifigure could be controversial

An exclusive Phase II Captain Rex minifigure included with the upcoming 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser could prove controversial.

With 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser having been revealed early at a Malaysian airport store, we now have a much clearer idea of what to expect from the massive Ultimate Collector Series set. First images of The Clone Wars era ship reveal a huge 5,374-piece build that’s reported to measure a whopping 109cm in length, with a height of 32cm.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Clone Wars animated series, the vessel also includes two minifigures which may be exclusive to the set, one of which is definitely long overdue. As well as an updated version of a younger Admiral Yularen, 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser also comes with the first Phase II Captain Rex minifigure since 2013’s 75012 BARC Speeder with Sidecar.

From the images we’ve seen so far, the updated Captain Rex minifigure appears to feature his unique helmet design and may boast new torso and leg printing. We’re also keeping our fingers crossed for a cloth-based pauldron and kama, but it’s too early to confirm those details at this stage.

In addition, the fan-favourite character is said to feature a patch on the side of his head, recreating the character’s design after his inhibitor chip was removed in The Clone Wars. That minor detail is exactly the sort of thing that appeals to diehard LEGO Star Wars fans, although locking it behind a RM 2,849 (roughly £488) set could ultimately prove to be a controversial decision.

We’ll know more about both exclusive minifigures as soon as we receive a full official announcement from the LEGO Group regarding 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser.
