LEGO Super Mario 18+ set rumoured for 2025

Another LEGO Super Mario 18+ set is rumoured to be on the way in 2025, falling squarely in the middle of the previous five direct-to-consumer sets.

Instagram user a.clay.brick reports that 72037 will be a LEGO Super Mario direct-to-consumer set, joining 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System, 71395 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block, 71411 The Mighty Bowser, 71426 Piranha Plant and 71438 Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi in the line-up of 18+ Mario models. The latest addition is said to retail for $169.99, which puts it pretty much in the middle of the pack.

72037 is rumoured to launch in July 2025, or a few months ahead of recent LEGO Super Mario 18+ sets, which have typically debuted around October or November. Exactly what it might consist of is anyone’s guess at this stage, and the LEGO Super Mario theme’s D2C sets are so wildly unpredictable that it really could be anything at all.

With one eye on previous releases, a new retro Nintendo console wouldn’t be out of the question (especially as 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System is finally retiring this year), but the same could easily be said of large character builds and Mario iconography. The wider LEGO Super Mario theme is finally tackling Mario Kart in 2025, so a larger Mario Kart build also feels conceivable.

We’ll probably be waiting a fair while to see next year’s LEGO Super Mario 18+ set if it really is launching in July, but more rumours will hopefully fill in some of the gaps in the meantime. They shouldn’t be treated as gospel, of course…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
