Thanks to a special stand included with 72037 Mario & Standard Kart, future LEGO models might gain more potential display options.
Many LEGO Super Mario fans will no doubt already be counting down the days until the arrival of 72037 Mario & Standard Kart on May 15, 2025. The 1,972-piece set was revealed earlier this week and presents the largest version of the iconic plumber announced to date, complete with the character’s signature video game racing vehicle.
In addition to the main model itself, 72037 Mario & Standard Kart also includes its own special brick-built stand, one that allows for the model to be displayed in a variety of dynamic angles, such as driving at speed or drifting around a corner.
The stand itself is detachable from the kart and seems to be predominantly assembled from a combination of standard and Technic pieces, which may suggest that the accessory might potentially work with other LEGO sets. Models such as 75375 Millennium Falcon and 10353 Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell feature their own stands, but they’re fixed in just the one position.
From the official images of the build released so far, it’s clear that 72037 Mario & Standard Kart’s special stand allows for the vehicle to be placed in a number of angled poses, offering up a multitude of potential display options.
That same thinking and the stand’s construction might well open up some interesting possibilities for future LEGO sets to follow suit, providing builders with more options for showing off their collections in style, especially larger models.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as if the brick-built version of Mario included in 72037 Mario & Standard Kart can be stood up separately, something we’ve already discussed here. However, large-scale LEGO figures could also benefit from the LEGO Super Mario set’s dynamic stand, with numerous possibilities for all kinds of exciting action poses.
We’ll find out just how flexible 72037 Mario & Standard Kart’s stand may be when the LEGO Super Mario set races into view on May 15 priced at £149.99 / $169.99 / €169.99, with pre-orders now open.
