LEGO teases BrickLink Designer Program Series 8 reveals
The LEGO Group has shared a first look at the finalised BrickLink Designer Program Series 8 sets, including the next giant castle coming our way.
The full reveal of the five fan-designed sets that will be available to crowdfund in June will take place on May 11 (according to the Series 8 landing page), but the official BrickLink Instagram page has now published a first teaser image for each of the five models, including Dustmark Keep, Coconut Cape, Brick Railroad Locomotive, University of Science and Hot Air Balloon.

The most obvious difference between the initial designs and these presumably finalised sets is the presence of a Serpent Knight in Dustmark Keep. Brickhucker’s original concept attached the desert castle to an original faction created using the torso from 10332 Medieval Town Square’s tax collector, but it looks like the model that will be available to buy will instead be hooked to the Serpent Knights in some fashion.

That makes sense given sets currently in production – the Town Square retired last year, while the Serpent Knights are available in 31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle and on Pick a Brick – but it’ll be interesting to see if the design of the fortress itself has changed much to reflect its new allegiance. Elsewhere, Coconut Cape’s soldiers will apparently feature purple rather than olive green torsos.

Minifigure changes aside, the tiny parts of these models we can otherwise see in these early images suggest they’re going to be pretty faithful to the original designs, as is typically the case for the BrickLink Designer Program. You’ll be able to pre-order these sets from June 9 at 8am PT / 4pm BST. Any that reach 3,000 backers will enter production, and will begin shipping from November this year.
