LEGO Technic 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car receives a redesign
Official images on the online store reveal that 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car has undergone a slight redesign behind the scenes.
Anyone who has already purchased 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car may now own a collector’s item as the stickers representing parts of the livery on 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car have changed suddenly on images available via LEGO.com. This was spotted by Instagram user brick_clicker, who has also been a source for LEGO rumours in the past. They report that this is due to licensing issues with the sponsors, though that is not officially confirmed at this time.
They also mention that they believe the older version won’t be restocked, leading to potential set shortages for 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car until the newer version can land on shelves.
Here are two pictures of the set showing how it looked before on the official online store on release day, versus after on March 26, 2022.

The most notable change is on the tires where the sponsor’s names have been switched out for a pair of blue curved lines with an orange shape, somewhat matching what was seen previously, though with the addition of orange.
The inside of the spoiler no longer has a design for a sponsor too and the orange body has also been affected by this change. The official reasoning for this amendment is unknown, though you can take a look at the various updated images for yourself by heading over to LEGO.com.
Currently, March 26, 2022, 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car is temporarily out of stock on the official online store worldwide after selling out on the first day. While we wait for a restock, likely of this newer variant, you can read our full review of the older version of the Formula 1 model.

Amazon UK still has the original spec in stock. I received a second set yesterday with Pirelli stickers. All sticker sets will be scanned at high resolution in order to be ‘recreated’…
