LEGO Technic 42159 Yamaha MT-10 SP’s AR features detailed
Exactly what the LEGO Technic augmented reality app does with 42159 Yamaha MT-10 has been detailed, fixing a potential flaw.
When it was revealed, 42159 Yamaha MT-10 SP’s listing confirmed that it would have integration with the Technic AR app, much like 42158 NASA Mars Rover Perseverance.
However, the few images on the listing featuring the AR app didn’t offer a clear explanation of what exactly the features were.

Thankfully, this has now been remedied ahead of launch on August 1, 2023, and it appears to fix one of our issues with the model, as mentioned in our recent review.
“The app goes with the set,” shares Ann Karring, an Interactive Play Designer at the LEGO Group in a new interview on LEGO.com. “You can download it for free, and then you can choose from different experiences.”
Upon downloading and opening the app, you’re invited to select a model, with three currently available. It seems likely that the Yamaha will be added in an update nearer to release.
“The app has three modes,” continues Ann. “One of these three modes is all about the real Yamaha motorcycle. You can ride it through a cyberpunk world. You can see the throttle on your screen, and then you will see the bike accelerate, how many RPMs, and hear the engine revving.”

“The second mode dives deeper into the LEGO set. It’s designed so you can have an X-ray view of the bike and look inside the gearbox and see the elements work together.”
This second mode sounds like it should allow an easy look at the mechanism inside the bike, which are inaccessible once building is complete. This could allow you to appreciate the work that goes into them, without the use of transparent bricks like in 42154 2022 Ford GT.
“The last mode lets you place a 3D model of the Yamaha MT-10 SP in your home,” says Ann. “You can take a picture of it, see how it would look, and even exchange it with the LEGO model if you want and see the full-sized model in your room.”
The final mode should provide an easy way to make sure you have the space for the build, provided this section of the app is accessible without buying the set.
42159 Yamaha MT-10 SP launches on August 1 for £199.99 / $239.99 / €229.99.
