LEGO The Lord of the Rings 2025 set’s piece count can go far
The latest rumour for a LEGO The Lord of the Rings 2025 set posits a much smaller piece count than usual, but it can still go far in the right context.
After the likes of the 6,167-piece 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell and the 5,471-piece 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr, the rumoured piece count for 10354 Bag End may seem concerning but rest assured, it can be enough in the right context.
According to a member of Brick Tap, reported via Clay Bricks on Instagram, the rumoured 10354 Bag End will feature 2,017 pieces – less than half the piece count of the last two LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets. While that might seem small, there are many LEGO models within this piece range that could be used as the blueprint or set expectations for a brick-built Bag End.

For a more direct comparison, it’s worth noting that 79003 An Unexpected Gathering is made up of 652 pieces. It depicts Bag End as a play-centric model rather than an adult-designed build and has much less detail than you would expect from an 18+ Bag End model though.
21338 A-Frame Cabin has 2,082 pieces and depicts a similarly natural home to that of Bag-End. 21343 Viking Village is made up of 2,103 elements and 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas has 2,193 pieces – both of which offer inspiration for homes nestled in and around a landscape but on a much smaller scale than that of 21338 A-Frame Cabin.

These models showcase that there are enough pieces to depict a fully-furnished home with 2,017 pieces and LEGO Ideas user theLOTRbuilder takes this further with their approximately 2,000-piece recreation of Bag End with an interior and landscaping to boot. This appears to come with an open back though similar to the two other LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets from recent years.

The most important takeaway from comparing the piece counts and contents of these three official sets to the 2,017 parts rumoured for 10354 Bag End is that each model features at most seven minifigures (but around five on average). That’s much less than 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell‘s 21 minifigures and 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr characters.
Ahead of the rumoured LEGO The Lord of the Rings April 2025 set, the new piece count indicates that we may need to expect a much smaller number of minifigures than we’ve been used to in the last couple of entries.
Looking at the latest rumour with some additional context, we might be able to set our expectations accordingly ahead of next year, even though the next LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets are rumoured to be smaller (and likely more affordable) than usual. Take 10354 Bag End and the rest of the LEGO Icons sets rumoured for next year with caution for now just in case.
