LEGO TikTok star pops up on The Kelly Clarkson Show, wins $1,000

A TikTok star who went viral thanks to LEGO dog poop appeared in the latest episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show – and came away $1,000 better off.

YouTuber and TikTok personality Emmasaurus (real name Emily) is building an enormous LEGO city with her husband, and recently challenged her viewers to come up with things that she doesn’t have in her display. They responded with suggestions like mushrooms, a ghost, an American flag, toilet paper and dog poop – all of which are in fact present and correct.

It’s the last item in that list that launched Emily to internet fame, though, as her TikTok video pointing out the poop piece has so far racked up an astonishing 22 million views. At least one of those was apparently American Idol winner and talk show host Kelly Clarkson, who invited Emily to appear on her daytime TV show in the US.

Clarkson began the segment by talking about her own interest in LEGO (add her to the list of CFOLs – Celebrity Fans of LEGO – then), before inviting Emily to show off her LEGO city to an average of 1.3 million viewers. Emily revealed a little about her own LEGO story – including how she was introduced to the hobby by her husband, and is now part of the LEGO ambassador program – before Clarkson promised to ‘like’ her TikTok post (this is what talk shows are like in the US, presumably). The daytime host then wrapped up the segment by surprising Emily with a $1,000 cash gift from the show’s sponsors.

So, the lesson here is: build LEGO, go viral, get on TV, profit.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
