This LEGO Transformers custom build is a joke

An enterprising LEGO fan has recreated a fan comic using the new LEGO Transformers set.

10302 Optimus Prime has proven a welcome surprise in the 2022 LEGO lineup. It recreates the leader of the Autobots in the Transformers franchise, preserving a crucial feature of the original toys. It can transform from a humanoid robot to a cab-over truck without removing any elements; several accessories like an ion blaster, an Energon cube and a jetpack are also included.

Now Twitter user @Happyboy1604 has taken it a step (or two) further. Using some other elements, he’s recreated a comic strip that sees Optimus wearing a pair of vans on his feet.

Alt text for the tweet reveals two existing sets have been borrowed for the build. One foot uses the armoured van from 60198 Cargo Train, while the other one uses 60283 Holiday Camper Van instead. The resulting build is very impressive, and captures the feel of the comic strip rather effectively.

No instructions have been provided for the build, so we’re not entirely sure how it’s been carried off. If you’d like to give this customisation a try yourself, all three sets used are currently available to purchase online. That said, with a combined RRP of £337.97 / $419.97 / €379.97, the joke may be on you instead of your audience.
