LEGO unveils another new addition to the modular building street

The LEGO Group has published instructions for another new addition to the modular building street, plugging a gap in the existing collection.

As part of its Black Friday preview event livestream – which kicked off at 11.30pm UK time on Wednesday – the LEGO Group showed off its current range of modular buildings, spotlighting the newest release in 10326 Natural History Museum. That model is available to pre-order now, and will start shipping from December 1. But it’s not the only new addition to the range the designers have up their sleeve.

During the livestream, LEGO designer Fenella Charity unveiled a bonus segment of the street. This isn’t an official set you can buy, but is instead a digital instruction booklet with a parts list, so you can gather the elements yourself – from Pick a Brick, BrickLink or your own collection – and put it together of your own volition.

The 150-piece model requires a 16×32 baseplate, a bunch of light and dark grey tiles and a lamppost – all hallmarks of any good LEGO modular building. But the primary focus is on the kiosk, which can be customised to sell wigs, frogs or bones (or whatever else you like). The back of the model teases the beginning of a garden or park area, but stops short of actually building it, so you’ll need to get creative to finish it off.

Very few LEGO modular buildings have incorporated alleyways or open spaces, and none since 10190 Market Street have dedicated an entire 16×32 baseplate to one. But this is exactly the kind of thing that could help break up a couple of bigger buildings, or even help 10326 Natural History Museum to stand alone (as many museums do in real life).

10326 Natural History Museum is available to pre-order now. Don’t forget to enter for your chance to win a night’s stay at the real Natural History Museum in London with Brick Fanatics – entries close at 12pm UK time November 10, 2023.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
