The LEGO Winter Village Collection has collections within it

LEGO designers have clarified that there are three divisions within the LEGO Winter Village Collection, explaining the connection between each set.

The latest LEGO Building Stories video is now online, following an initial entry for the Modular Buildings Collection. This time, designers Chris McVeigh, Pierre Normandin and Antica Bracanov are taking us on a tour of the LEGO Winter Village Collection, providing more context for each model.

From 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop to the most recent 10325 Alpine Lodge, one interesting fact from the video is that there are three groups within this collection, a statement that helps to clarify several sets’ connection to the wider range.

“I think we’ve established that there are different Winter Village sub-divisions,” shares Chris McVeigh. “We certainly have a more fantasy-based area that has the gingerbread house, the elf clubhouse and Santa’s workshop.

“Then we have a traditional section which includes the toy shop, the fire station and Santa’s visit and I think the train is something that connects them all.”

Traditional

The village part of the Winter Village appears to include most of the sets according to the guidelines set out in the video. They tend to depict realistic buildings, with a hint of the fantastical suggesting a wider Winter Village universe in 10293 Santa’s Visit.

Fantasy

The fantastical sets are more outlandish compared to the rest of the Winter Village, presenting more interesting concepts and including just three models. All of these are now retired though, but it suggests that this area of the Winter Village could expand in the future.

The bridge between them

The train, and likely its station, are described as something that connects all of the Winter Village models and a holiday form of transportation is certainly one way to get from the likes of Santa’s Workshop to 10308 Holiday Main Street. Both of these sets are retired too.

10325 Alpine Lodge is available now for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 and you can read our review by clicking here.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
