LEGO Winter Village would benefit from its own Marvel modulars

The latest LEGO Harry Potter rumour should be good news for Winter Village fans, almost certainly taking a beloved build to the next level.

The typically reliable Instagram user fateful_04 stated earlier today that 76457 Hogsmeade Village would be releasing this September with 3,228 pieces. For comparison, 2021’s 76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit has 851 pieces and instantly drew the eye of a devoted segment of the LEGO community.

Since Hogsmeade’s most iconic appearance is in Winter in the films, several recreations of the village – including the LEGO set – have seen it covered in snow. That makes it a perfect fit alongside the charming but distinctly modern Winter Village collection, the sets of which usually have 1,500 pieces.

76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit quickly caught the eye of LEGO Winter Village collectors before it retired in July of last year, though its level of detail compared to many of the official Winter Village buildings, including 10308 Holiday Main Street, leaves something to be desired.

This is where the rumoured 76457 Hogsmeade Village would be able to step in, adding to a brick-built Hogsmeade with more detail and more buildings and generally allowing it to fit better alongside the Winter Village collection as an unofficial entry.

Picture something similar to the Marvel modular buildings, in that it would fit neatly alongside the LEGO Icons collection without being an official member of the original range. It would be a logical step for the LEGO Group to take after the success of the Marvel modular buildings, offering easy licensed expansions to the Winter Village collection without directly affecting it.

The introduction of the Marvel modular buildings regularly has not impacted how often we receive the original LEGO modular buildings, and a huge Hogsmeade model would likely be even less impactful on the Winter Village.

LEGO Harry Potter 75978 Diagon Alley 76417 Gringotts Bank featured 1024x576

3,228 elements might be enough to capture enough of Hogsmeade to keep the village to a single set, instead of needing to expand in the future as we saw with 75978 Diagon Alley and 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition. 76457 Hogsmeade Village would likely be able to serve as a one-off expansion to the Winter Village range to add a Harry Potter touch to your seasonal displays.

This is all dependent on the rumoured information, which is to be taken with caution. Either way, an additional LEGO Hogsmeade set is likely to be welcomed by Winter Village collectors, especially if it has a more comparable level of detail.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
