LEGO World Play Day free Brick Bag promotional set revealed

The LEGO Group’s World Play Day event was celebrated with a free Brick Bag promotion and an image of the freebie has now been revealed.

On October 12, 2023, the LEGO Group celebrated World Play Day, a promotion intended to encourage kids to put their screens down and play. New research from the company revealed that children are spending just 2% of their week (equivalent to 7 hours) playing, with the global World Play Day 2023 event aiming to bring families together for a variety of fun activities.

These included the opening of the LEGO Superpower Academy in London, an Australian mall being transformed into a giant playground, famous LEGO builders in attendance at Lotte Mall Suji, South Korea and much more.

In addition, the LEGO Group also announced that LEGO Stores around the world would be giving away a free Brick Bag on October 12, with the mystery promotional item being limited to one per person. Beyond that, no details as to what exactly the freebie might be were forthcoming.

Fast forward a week and we now know what visitors received and it’s literally a bag of bricks. An image of the set has been revealed by Brickset, showing a clear zip-lock bag filled with 103 colourful LEGO pieces, as well as a printed World Play Day card. The promotional item is listed as 6491400 World Play Day 2023 Set, but beyond that there doesn’t seem to be anything unique about the freebie.

It would seem that the set was aimed squarely at its young target audience, so there’s not really much included in the pack for collectors to get excited about. 6491400 World Play Day 2023 Set has yet to pop up on the secondary market, so it’s hard to gauge a potential price for the item, but we suspect it won’t break the bank if you’re desperate to add the promo to your collection.
