LEGOLAND Billund Miniland partly destroyed in fire
A section of LEGOLAND Billund’s Miniland has been partly destroyed by an electrical fire, ranging from brick-built Amsterdam canals to the Burg Khalifa.
Reportedly caused by a short circuit within one of the motorised cars of Miniland, the electrical fire has burnt through a section of the brick-built attraction at LEGOLAND Billund. The area in question features a number of buildings based on attractions from around the world, including the Kennedy Space Centre, the canals of Amsterdam, and Dubai’s Burj Khalifa skyscraper.
Speaking to Sky News, a spokesperson for the park, Kasper Tangsig, said that video surveillance showed the fire started in an electrical car that runs on Miniland’s rails while it was charging overnight. The blaze started at 4am and was quickly extinguished but, according to local news site Jydske Vestkysten, several buildings and some brick-built boats from a replica of a Danish port have melted.
Mr Tangsig went on to say that the rest of the electrical equipment from throughout Miniland will be inspected in the coming days. However, it’s too early to say what will happen to the affected area and exactly what can be salvaged.
