Make a team of LEGO GWP BIONICLE figures with free mask designs

The LEGO 40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua gift has ignited interest in the community, inspiring fan-made mask designs for more figures.

Reddit user Msw41 has shared a collection of mask designs similar to style used in the new 40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua gift-with-purchase launching soon. This return to BIONICLE models reimagines the two character and creature building system (CCBS) figures using standard System elements and members of the community have been quick to imagine more characters in this style.

Following that initial report with a look at how other masks could be approached, Msw41 has shared their versions for the other five Toa and put them online to download for free.

How you might apply these designs to bricks is up to you, but the designs could be the perfect final touch for custom figures at the same scale as the BIONICLE GWP. It’s also a good example of how to approach Kopaka’s unique mask design with just brick.

Previously, a LEGO designer revealed official concepts for the masks in the new GWP.

40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua will be available for free when spending £90 / $100 / €100 on the official online store starting January 27, 2023.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
