Marvel game news is coming soon with rumours of Overwatch-style gameplay

Following the news for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, another Marvel game announcement is coming and it’s rumoured to be similar to Overwatch.

Marvel Games X account has shared new artwork teasing a reveal coming tomorrow at 8:00am PT or 11:00am ET, or around 3:00pm GMT. The artwork features a few recognisable heroes and villains including Iron Man, Loki, Black Panther and more though it doesn’t suggest what the reveal could be, though it’s likely to be a game of some kind.

Forbes reports that this could be Marvel’s take on Overwatch, offering an experience where six-person teams face off against each other using Marvel characters and that it is coming to PC, console and mobile.

Compared to the likes of the other recent Marvel games, it would be a different experience and one that the LEGO Group may be more inclined to keep an eye on. Though it only lasted from 2018 to 2022 with one set that is currently postponed, the concept of LEGO Overwatch could be applied to the more familiar Marvel franchise, which has a lengthy history in the LEGO portfolio, provided that the rumours about this new game are true.

It could also be that the LEGO Group keeps to the movies and streaming series such as X-Men ’97 for Marvel sets. We’d note that even Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers game received some unique minifigures in a few 2020 Marvel models though.

Whatever this teaser is for, we’ll know in less than 24 hours from the time of writing at 3pm GMT, 8:00am PT or 11:00am ET.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
