Marvel’s Daredevil casting announcement leaves out two key actors

Three new actors will be joining OGs Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in Disney’s Daredevil: Born Again–but two others are suspiciously absent.

According to Gizmodo, three fresh actors will join Cox’s Daredevil and D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in the now-confirmed live-action Daredevil: Born Again. The reboot of the show will air sometime in 2024, a full six years after the last episode of the original series aired.

Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, and Sandrine Holt will all reportedly play ‘major roles’ in the Disney Plus show. However, two key characters from the original version of the show are notably missing: Deborah Ann Woll, who played Karen Page, and Elden Henson, who played Foggy Nelson.

Both Karen and Foggy were close to Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) and it’s hard to see how he will be the same lawyer/vigilante without them. Of course, if this Disney-fied version of the character is of a multiverse variety, perhaps we’re seeing a variant of Matt where he never met his two closest friends.

Cox himself has already praised both actors highly, as reported by Collider, saying: ‘I don’t know what’s going to happen with the other characters in the new show, but I know for a fact that Elden and Deborah were the heartbeat(s) of what we did before, and the show is a success because of them.’

For now, all we know about the show is a rough release date of 2023 and the fact that the first (and only confirmed) season will have 18 episodes. Until then, we’ll have to wait and see what the horned hero has in store for us.
