Megan Rapinoe is retiring from football
USA forward Megan Rapinoe is retiring from football at the end of the current season, following a career filled with worthwhile accomplishments.
After being named Best Fifa Women’s Player in 2019, winning awards around the world and no doubt inspiring aspiring football players to achieve their dreams, Rapinoe has announced her retirement from football.
“It is with a really deep sense of peace and gratitude and excitement that I want to share with you guys that this will be my last season, my last World Cup and my last NWSL season,” Rapinoe said, reports the BBC.
“I could have never imagined where this beautiful game would have taken me.
“I feel so honoured to have represented this country and this federation for so many years, it’s truly been the greatest thing that I’ve ever done and is something I’m so grateful for.”

Rapinoe is part of the LEGO Group’s Play Unstoppable campaign to inspire girls to play without limits and even has her own minifigure in 40634 Icons of Play. She can add that to the extensive list of her achievements as she prepares to retire from the sport.
