Make a mini LEGO BrickLink Designer Program model and win the set

A new competition has started on BrickLink that could win you a set worth up to £299.99 / $379.99 / €339.99 by making it on a much smaller scale.

Anyone who is tempted by one of the new LEGO BrickLink Designer Series 1 sets, that go up for pre-order on February 7, may be able to score one for free by winning a competition that has just started. That’s a hefty prize considering the size and cost of most of these builds.

The contest is open until January 31 and is asking entrants to submit a model using 10 to 300 pieces that recreates one of the five Series 1 sets. The models that can take inspiration from are DistractedBldr’s Snack Shack, llucky’s General Store, Mind_The_Brick’s Old Train Engine Shed, NicolasCarlier’s Parisian Street and SleeplessNight’s Mountain Fortress.

Of these models, the Snack Shack is the smallest at 539 pieces for £39.99 / $49.99 / €49.99. By using the competition’s maximum piece count, your submission could be around half the size of the actual set – something that can’t quite be said for the other four models. That’s only as long as you can fit it in an eight-stud by eight-stud space though – which will provide an extra challenge.

You’ve got until January 31 at 12:00pm PT to submit your entry and keep in mind that there will be five winners – one for each of the Series 1 sets – and you’ll only have the chance to win the model that you’ve depicted. More rules are available to look through on the contest page.
