More LEGO Disney Encanto sets may be possible as movie sees streaming success

Recent reports of Encanto’s success on Disney+ and its music on the charts might suggest that more LEGO sets based on the film are possible.

At the end of 2021, Disney’s Encanto was released in cinemas around the world, and the LEGO Group launched three models to go alongside it – 43200 Antonio’s Magical Door, 43201 Isabela’s Magical Door and 43202 The Madrigal House. The addition of Encanto to Disney+ on December 24 has also contributed towards major success for the film in the streaming and music industries.

“On average, “Encanto” streamers have watched the film five times with the title accumulating over 180 million re-watches globally since launch.” reads a new press release from Disney.

As more evidence, the We Don’t Talk About Bruno Song from Encanto made it to the number one spot of the Top 100 charts, a place that not even Frozen’s Let It Go could make it to, with that track peaking at number five.

With all this in mind, it seems likely that Disney will be eager to continue the world of Encanto in new media and merchandise, and Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek recently referred to Encanto as a franchise in the first-quarter Walt Disney Company earnings call, despite only having one movie. This may indicate that there is something more planned for the Madrigal family.

In the world of LEGO, this might mean that Encanto could go in a similar direction to Frozen, which received a sequel in 2019 and is still getting LEGO Disney sets to this day with the huge 43197 The Ice Castle in 2021 and three models already in 2022.

Whether Encanto can see the same success as Encanto in the long-run has yet to be seen and no further LEGO Encanto sets have been confirmed at the time of writing. However, with it being referred to as a franchise and evidently being successful on streaming, it seems plausible that the ranks of LEGO Encanto could be expanded in the future, especially given the initial wave was a missed opportunity.
