More LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga details are coming out of hyperspace

A new interview has revealed a variety of new details for the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker saga game, including planets, playable characters and more.

Issue 184 of the Official Playstation Magazine, released January 12, contains an interview with Dawn McDiarmid, lead hub designer at TT Games. From this interview, fans can learn many more details about the upcoming LEGO game.

The most interesting of the new details is a confirmed number of playable characters. Dawn explains that there are around 300 playable characters in the game, already beating the character count in LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 by 75. However, that obviously wasn’t enough for TT games with the final number being nearer to 800 unique, playable and non-playable characters.

Dawn also names a few new characters that weren’t previously known to be featured in the game including Babu Frik from the Rise of Skywalker and the Wampa from the planet of Hoth.

With all those characters, there’s going to have to be a fairly large galaxy to explore, and the interview confirms that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will have 23 planets and moons with 28 unique locations that players can visit, and of course each will be full of familiar quests and collectables that LEGO games are known for.

However, Dawn makes it clear that this isn’t just another LEGO game with new features such as aiming blaster rifles down the sight, a new upgrade system, a more in-depth quest system, and the ability to do multiple quests simultaneously via a datapad.

Previously, we’ve seen new screenshots from the game and a recent sizzle reel as well as details of the pre-order bonuses and editions including an exclusive 30625 Luke Skywalker with Blue Milk minifigure. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will launch in Spring 2021 and contain all nine movies in the Skywalker Saga.
