New LEGO CMF series, same old problems in stores

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71047 Dungeons & Dragons hasn’t even officially launched yet but an old problem is already rearing its ugly head.

Ever since the new blind boxes debuted in 71039 Marvel Series 2, people looking for specific minifigures have been known to resort to ripping open boxes on shelves without buying them, with pictures appearing online of people doing it for most LEGO Collectible Minifigures series since then. It seems 71047 Dungeons & Dragons will be no different. With two days to go until it officially hits shelves, photos have already surfaced on reddit of boxes getting ripped open and left on shelves.

Admittedly, it looks like the culprits are attempting a more stealthy technique, lifting the corner rather than ripping open the whole box. However, this still ruins the experience for those coming later wanting to have a surprise or at least buy a minifigure from 71047 Dungeons & Dragons with a box in good condition.

For those reading this and thinking there must be a better way of knowing what minifigure you’re getting before you buy – you’d be right. Brick Search is the app you need to hunt for all the characters you want in 71047 Dungeons & Dragons, with a scanner that can tell you exactly what’s inside simply by pointing it at the matrix code on the bottom of the box.

It takes just a few short seconds on the free app to know whether you’re about to buy what you’re looking for, with no need to vandalise any boxes. Win-win for all involved. For more information on Brick Search, check out our detailed guide.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
