New Thor trailer features multiple nods to LEGO Marvel sets

The latest trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has just dropped, with several elements from the LEGO tie-in sets referenced.

Thor: Love and Thunder is the latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the fourth to star Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the lead role. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor sets out on a new adventure across the universe. He’s joined on his journey by old flame Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) and a new enemy called Gorr the God-Butcher (played by The Dark Knight’s Christian Bale).

While the trailer is certainly thrilling on its own merits (and features a spot of pixelated nudity into the bargain) LEGO fans may appreciate it on another level. It offers a better look at elements like the Goat Boat and Gorr himself, which have been immortalised in LEGO form. Both of these, along with Jane Foster’s Thor, can be found in 76208 The Goat Boat within the LEGO Marvel line.

The other LEGO set inspired by this movie (76207 Attack on New Asgard) appears less well represented. The green creature in that set is still something of a mystery to us at this stage. However, since it presumably appears towards the end of the film, its absence here is to be expected.

Thor: Love and Thunder debuts in cinemas on July 8. However, the two LEGO sets it has directly inspired are now available for purchase.
