Almost every non-F1 LEGO Speed Champions set is retiring this year
All but two non-Formula 1 LEGO Speed Champions sets are retiring by the end of 2025, while one of the upcoming F1 sets is leaving shelves nearly two years before the rest.
LEGO Speed Champions is going all-in on Formula 1 in March as part of the LEGO Group’s wider collaboration with the motorsport, which is bad news for anyone hoping for a more traditional year from this racing theme. The good news is that more sets are rumoured to be on the way in the summer – but aside from those cars, the portfolio will be almost entirely dominated by F1 in 2026.
That’s because nearly every single one of the current LEGO Speed Champions sets, including all but two of the 2024 cars, is slated to retire by the end of 2025. That means you’ll only have 18 months total to pick up 76923 Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo, 76924 Mercedes-AMG G 63 & Mercedes-AMG SL 63 and 76925 Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car & AMR23.
76919 2023 McLaren Formula 1 Car is actually retiring by July, but that’s not really a surprise given 77251 McLaren F1 Team MCL38 Race Car is on the way in March and supersedes it. The two August 2024 eight-wide remakes – 76934 Ferrari F40 and 76935 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – are the only current non-F1 cars staying on shelves until the end of 2026.
The 10-strong grid of Formula 1 racers debuting on March 1 will all be available until the end of 2027 as things stand (suggesting the LEGO Group isn’t planning to revisit them with updated liveries and so on in 2026), with the exception of 77247 KICK Sauber F1 Team C44 Race Car, which is currently due to retire in March 2026.
That’s a short shelf life with or without the other nine cars, but likely points to expectations around which of these Formula 1 sets will be most (and least) popular.
