Over 1,000 applications received for LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester’s Master Model Builder job

The LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is seeking a new Master Model Builder, and over 1,000 applications have been received since the position was advertised.

There are only 24 Master Model Builders in the world, and over 1,000 people have applied to join Alex Bidolak in a recently created role at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester. Submissions for the role have come with videos and images of impressive LEGO builds, that managers at Merlin Entertainments have been going through to whittle down a shortlist.

In order to help choose the successful candidate, a Build Off will see talented LEGO builders compete to see who has the most appropriate skillset. The Creative Crew, a group of six to ten year olds, have helped devise the challenged that applications will face.

The unique event will take place on August 4 at the Palace Theatre. After a series of heats in the morning, the afternoon will see the morning’s winners attempt to create a Manchester inspired build.

“We’re really excited about meeting our Master Model Builder candidates,” said Jenn McDonough, General Manager Manchester Cluster, Merlin Entertainments. “We’ve received some incredibly impressive applications, so I’m sure it’s going to be a close call, but I can’t wait to see what our aspiring Master Model Builders are going to create. The successful candidate will be joining an already brilliant team to ensure guests are provided with an inspiring and fun-filled experience.”
