Predicting the LEGO Ideas third 2024 review results
The LEGO Ideas third 2024 review results are just a day away, and looking through the 54 submissions, we have predictions on what will win.
From a wide variety of licensed models to some stunning original designs, the next batch of LEGO Ideas results will be announced tomorrow, and we have some thoughts on what stands a better chance than the rest of the round at getting selected for official sets. Click here to see the full selection of fan-designed projects in the round.
Everything that has made it to the third 2024 review round is impressive, but unfortunately, some projects are more likely to be picked than others for various reasons, which we will explain. Here is what likely doesn’t stand a chance, and what we predict will be picked.
Unlikely picks

The Gremlins and Sherlock Holmes clash with upcoming or recent models thanks to the future LEGO Ideas Gizmo build and a recent book nook. In the case of The Simpsons school model, it clashes with an existing LEGO partnership, following 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger earlier this month.
Terauma’s camping-centric submission bears a striking similarity to an upcoming BrickLink Designer Program build from another fan, and muddying the waters for either LEGO Ideas or the BrickLink Designer Program doesn’t make much sense.
The two Gravity Falls projects have a more unfortunate issue. There have consistently been builds based on the Disney series in the various review rounds, and the LEGO Group has an existing partnership with Disney, but the LEGO Group would need to pick one model or the other, which would be unfair to the losing user.
Opting to select both builds and their users to be fan designers for a single set would have to mean giving up two percent of all sales, since LEGO Ideas fan designers receive one percent of all sales. It would be an unnecessary move for the LEGO Group to make as a business when they can pick another non-Gravity Falls project and only part with one percent of sales on the set.
The projects based on Mr. Bean and Jumanji clash with entries in the two ’90s challenges, and while the winners for future sets in each may have already been decided ahead of the results dates, the LEGO Group isn’t going to spoil the results by confirming that a set based on either of the two franchises is coming, essentially removing them from the contenders challenges.
Clashing concepts

There are some models in the third 2024 review that simply clash with existing concepts, such as the Ratatouille BrickHeadz by Alfstuff. Since BrickHeadz is its own theme already, it doesn’t stand much of a chance tomorrow, unfortunately.
There are four proposed entries to the Modular Buildings Collection in the review round, as well. Based on the dozens of previous similar builds that have been rejected, it’s not looking good for any of them. That said, 21353 The Botanical Garden had more luck, but lost its modularity in the transition to an official set.
Our predictions

CutestJellylikeCheetah

Based on previous LEGO Ideas rounds and how many LEGO Ideas sets have been made in recent years, it seems plausible that at least two projects will be announced for future models tomorrow. Predicting which these will be is no easy task, but we have some guesses.
Our first prediction for the third LEGO Ideas 2024 review results tomorrow is that Clue – The Playable Mystery Game (Aka Cluedo) by CutestJellylikeCheetah will be selected for a future set. Considering the LEGO Group’s current partnership with Hasbro and their exploration of board games again with the likes of Monkey Palace, something as iconic as Clue would be a great way to continue exploring this space again, but with some safe bets for LEGO fans.
Just like in the recent 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine, a Clue model would be an opportunity for the LEGO Group to focus on the minifigures for collectors, recreating the game’s characters with useful and appealing prints, and maybe even including some original designs referencing original characters such as Johnny Thunder and Ogel. Clue has had many crossovers before, including Dungeons & Dragons, The Simpsons and more.
Our other prediction for the third LEGO Ideas 2024 review results is that the Bolex 16mm Camera by eob1998 will be picked. LEGO Ideas has a strong history of item recreations, and most recently asked fans for another such set.
The camera model presents another opportunity to lean into nostalgia while relying on a proven set concept for the theme. It wouldn’t directly clash with 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, but the two could bolster each other on shelves with fun comparisons and bundles before the LEGO Polaroid model retires.
For the parking lot

Now that the LEGO Ideas parking lot has launched, with only two licensed models currently sitting in the spots waiting to see if the partnerships are possible, we predict that we’ll get news on one of these builds and whether it’s getting a set or not, freeing up space for another submission to take its place.
Guessing which licensed model in the third 2024 review stands a good chance of taking such a spot is challenging, but the Bob Ross submission by Bricknificent seems likely. The studio build features many of the artist’s paintings recreated at minifigure-scale, which wouldn’t quite fit within the likes of LEGO Art.
LEGO sets paying tribute to real artists have proven to be successful. The Vincent van Gogh tribute models started in LEGO Ideas with 21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night, but eventually moved beyond the fan-inspired theme with 31215 Vincent van Gogh – Sunflowers. The latter LEGO Art set has no minifigure of the artist, suggesting that the concept fits better in LEGO Ideas over LEGO Art.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the LEGO Group for more time to consider the Bob Ross submission, which offers a build that doesn’t clash with an existing theme, but opens the door for a future partnership that might be able to grow beyond LEGO Ideas, like that of Vincent van Gogh.
