Previous LEGO gifts-with-purchase rumoured to return in September 2023

Three previous LEGO gifts-with-purchase are rumoured to be making a comeback later this month, alongside discounts on recently-released sets.

While there are currently zero freebies available at LEGO.com or in LEGO Stores, that’s all set to change as soon as tomorrow (September 15), reports brick_clicker. Last year’s LEGO DOTS 40561 Pencil Holder will apparently be free with qualifying purchases, though specific details have yet to be revealed. When it was originally available in July and August 2022, the substantial 476-piece model required a £65 / $65 / €65 spend on LEGO Friends, City and/or DOTS sets.

The same threshold could apply once again this time round, but the LEGO Group could also switch things up to mirror recent qualifying spend requirements, which have been slightly lower in the UK than in the US and Europe. If that DOTS promo isn’t enough to tempt you to place an order online or head down to your local LEGO Store, the LEGO Group also has another couple aces up its sleeve for September.

The first of those is 40600 Disney 100 Years Celebration, which was initially available in July this year with spends above £95 / $100 / €100 on LEGO Disney products. The anniversary model will apparently return under the same conditions from September 23 to 30. 40594 Houses of the World 3 is reportedly due to be available during the same period with a £220 / $250 / €250 spend across all themes.

If they do pop up as expected, those freebies will stack, so a £220 / $250 / €250 order that includes at least £95 / $100 / €100 of Disney sets will qualify for both. You may decide to make up the difference between those two thresholds with LEGO DREAMZzz sets, as brick_clicker claims that some of the brand new theme’s models will be discounted by 20% at LEGO.com from September 21. Those would be significantly early deals for sets that only launched in August.

Take these reports with a grain of salt for the time being, as they’re still just rumours for now. But an excuse to place an order at LEGO.com would be welcome, given we’re currently without an incentive beyond LEGO Insiders points – and with one eye on the hundreds of sets the LEGO Group has just marked as ‘retiring soon’…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
