Ranking every minifigure in LEGO CMF Animals Series 28
Just a couple of weeks away from the launch of the next LEGO CMF series, we’ve ranked every minifigure in 71051 Animals Series 28.
The next LEGO Minifigures series, 71051 Animals Series 28, will launch on January 1, but you might even find them in stores early, with third-party retailers often known to go early with the blind boxes. Now is the time to download Brick Search’s minifigure scanner, so you can scan your way to the minifigures you’re after, available on iOS and Android.
If you’re not sure which ones you’re going for yet, we’ve ranked each and every animal costume minifigure for you here. Let us know if you agree with our ranking in the comments below.
12 – Cat costume

Starting from the bottom, the cat costume minifigure isn’t bad – it’s just not as good as some of the gems on this list. The ball of string as an accessory is a neat extra, but not a lot to write home about, and the fairly simple style of the torso, legs, and head pale (literally) in comparison to some of the more colourful characters in 71051 Animals Series 28.
11 – Bunny costume

Next up is the bunny costume, which is only really getting an edge over the cat on this list because it’s being written by a proud bunny owner. Plus, there are more accessories included and that tiny Easter egg makes this an ideal seasonal collectible.
10 – Koala costume

The koala is just as cute as the bunny and the cat, but adds a little more exoticism to the line-up. Leaning into the animal side of things, the minifigure is sporting some bamboo – although we hope they’re not getting too koala-like and snacking on it.
9 – Dolphin costume

Coming to the dolphin, this is where some real LEGO creativity has come into play. The arms are actually shaped like flippers and, paired with the tail, it’s an impressively authentic dolphin look. The oyster that opens to reveal a trans blue pearl is a nice touch that thinks a little more outside of the box than those that have come before.
8 – Crocodile costume

Speaking of creativity, the moulded teeth around the face hole of the head piece edge the crocodile into a higher spot on this list. The rubber duck and floaty are some classic examples of LEGO humour, evoking an image of a crocodile bobbing along the river with their duckie.
7 – Lion costume

A similarly detailed head piece is included in the lion minifigure, along with a swishing tail and claws printed on the front of the feet. The face is even printed with ‘whisker’ dots, adding extra detail to an already impressive character.
6 – Monkey costume

The monkey minifigure has a similarly expressive face, paired with an adorable headpiece. The strength is certainly in the simplicity here, using colour instead of printing or moulded parts to add authentic details to the costume.
5 – Parrot costume

Much like the dolphin, the parrot costume carries through onto the arms, while also adding extra printing to the face to mimic the colourful feathers of a parrot. As one of the most vibrant minifigures in the series, the seemingly dual-moulded legs take this minifigure into the top five.
4 – Frog costume

Next up is the frog costume, dotted with spots in different shades of green. The frog head will surely be tempting to superhero fans wanting to recreate Mr Frog, but he also works well enough as a standalone to be one to watch in 71051 Animals Series 28.
3 – Dalmatian costume

There’s more mileage in the Dalmatian costume as well, with the perfect legs for the Spot in any Spider-Man builds. The head is also a tempting piece, especially when paired with the printed collar and unique frisbee element.
2 – Peacock costume

Peacocks are known for their flourish, and that’s no less true here, with a new tail element that fans out behind the costume. Feathery arms and a buildable sunflower as an acccessory make this almost the perfect minifigure, only beaten by…
1 – Goldfish costume

…the goldfish, in no small part due to the scaled head element that goes all the way down its back. The printed scales along the torso and legs are examples of great attention to detail that earns this minifigure a wholly convincing number one in this ranking.

Not sure I agree, I think the parrot should be number 1. Very high attention to detail and nostalgia to it as well.
