Retiring LEGO Ideas set is the ideal companion set for upcoming Telephone Box

There are already some official buildable LEGO figures that are the perfect scale for 21347 Red London Telephone Box – but they’re retiring soon.

The LEGO designers have shared that the brick-built musicians from 21334 Jazz Quartet are the perfect size to stand inside the 31cm-high 21347 Red London Telephone Box to make a call, explaining the various jazz references that are dotted throughout the set at the same time.

“We realised at some point that the 21334 Jazz Quartet figures were at the same scale as 21347 Red London Telephone Box,” explains LEGO designer Marina Stampoli. “The jazz figures fit perfectly, for anyone who wants to customise [the set] or play with them.”

The musicians themselves are designed to be able to stand in dramatic poses, so are certainly sturdy enough to lean against the interior of 21347 Red London Telephone Box. Plus, their smart, old-school fashion, in keeping with the jazz era, matches perfectly with the timeline of the upcoming LEGO Ideas set. There’s a choice of building two versions of the phone box, one set in the time of a vintage rotary phone and one more modernised with a 1990s-style phone.

Either way, the smart fashion choices from the musicians pair well with that era of life in London – but you could also easily customise the outfits to conform to true ’90s fashion if you wanted to.

If you’re keen to pair the figures from 21334 Jazz Quartet but don’t yet own the set itself, then you’ll need to move fast. It’s set to retire at the end of 2024, so you have less than a year to buy it. 21334 Jazz Quartet retails for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99, while 21347 Red London Telephone Box will retail for £99.99 / $114.99 / €114.99, starting from February 1 for LEGO Insiders and from February 4 for everyone else.
