Rian Johnson’s Star Wars film trilogy is ‘on him’ 

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has provided an update on Rian Johnson’s Star Wars movie trilogy at Star Wars Celebration. 

Star Wars Celebration 2023 has seen three movies officially revealed, but there are more coming in the future, though updates have been few and far between. Three of these films are a trilogy from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, and an update on it has been provided at the event. 

“Rian and I talk all the time,” said Kathleen Kennedy in an interview with Variety. “He is unbelievably busy. So we’re not actively involved in anything at the moment because he’s doing another one of the ‘Glass Onion’ movies and then God knows what else.” 

“But he really wants to step back into the space. It’s a big commitment of time, so that’s really on him.” 

The mention of not being ‘actively involved in anything’ suggests that the trilogy has yet to enter active development. However, at least we have three films to look forward to in the meantime, including one culminating the stories from The Mandalorian era’s series.
