First rumoured details of LEGO Ideas Sonic Mania set surface online

The first rumoured details for the upcoming LEGO Ideas Sonic set have appeared online, including the possible price and release date.

Promobricks is reporting several details for the LEGO Ideas Sonic Mania model, which was confirmed as an approved project in February 2021. Should these rumours prove to be true, those waiting for the video game build might not have long to wait until launch.

According to the report, the set will be given the number 21331 and named Sonic the Hedgehog with a release date of January 1 2022. All information as part of this rumour is unconfirmed at this time, so take everything you read with the usual pinch of salt until an official reveal arrives.

The rumour states numerous other details surrounding the builds, which could include brick-built figures for Doctor Eggman and Crabmeat – a common enemy robot resembling a crab.

Sonic is listed as returning in minifigure form, potentially making use of the piece introduced in LEGO Dimensions. This matches the original LEGO Ideas submission from Viv Grannell (pictured above).

The Green Hill Zone level itself will reportedly be represented with a loop, a bridge with three floating rings, a spring and a spike trap. Also rumoured are a couple of palm trees using angular shield pieces, again matching the initially submitted design. A model of the Egg Mobile is also mentioned as included.

According to the rumour, the LEGO Ideas Sonic Mania set will release on January 1 for €69.99, but this has yet to be confirmed by the LEGO Group. Also rumoured for release from the theme is the upcoming Home Alone build in November, but this information should be treated with just as much caution.
