More rumoured details change the game for LEGO’s next modular building

More rumoured details have surfaced on the next LEGO modular building, and it sounds like it’s actually going in a slightly different direction to previous reports.

Initial rumours surrounding the next instalment in the long-running Modular Buildings Collection pitched it as 10350 Residential Townhouse, pointing to a set with a singular focus. But Instagram user a.clay.brick now claims that the next modular building will actually be closer to a bed and breakfast or an inn, with a café somewhere in the mix.

That’s still slightly residential, if not exactly a permanent home for your minifigures, so it fits the overall theme first floated by the same source. And it also marries up a little better with recent modular buildings, which have split their focus between multiple types of businesses or residences (last year’s 10326 Natural History Museum notwithstanding).

The reference image a.clay.brick has used in their report is of a Tudor-style inn, suggesting the LEGO Group could be turning to more historic architecture than in previous modular buildings, but it’s unclear whether that’s intended to be a specific depiction of this set or just a generic inn. If it’s the former, this modular building might just double up as the starting point for a new Dungeons & Dragons model…

Remember to take all LEGO rumours with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group. 10350 Residential Townhouse (or whatever it ends up being called) is expected to hit shelves in December, so we hopefully won’t be waiting too long for a full reveal.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
