First rumoured details of LEGO Architecture summer 2023 set land online
Rumoured details of this year’s first fully-fledged LEGO Architecture set have surfaced online, pointing to an unexpected entry in the long-running theme.
While 2023’s first Architecture set full stop has already found its way into the wild in 40585 World of Wonders, a model available exclusively in the VIP Rewards Centre, the 18+ theme has once again skipped a regular retail release in January. That doesn’t mean it’s game over for LEGO Architecture, though, as a 2,125-piece set is said to be on the way this summer.

Instagram user 1414falconfan reports (via brick_clicker) that 21060 Himeji Castle will launch on August 1, with an RRP of $159.99 in the US. The hilltop Japanese castle complex is located in the Hyogo Prefecture, and has been nicknamed ‘White Heron Castle’ for how its striking white architecture recalls a bird taking flight.
Himeji Castle is also regarded as ‘the finest surviving example of early 17th-century Japanese castle architecture’, according to UNESCO, which may explain why the LEGO Group has seemingly set its sights on the structure for summer 2023. Recent LEGO Architecture sets include icons like 21056 Taj Mahal and 21058 The Great Pyramid of Giza, and Himeji Castle feels like a natural successor to those historical sets.
It’s still slightly unexpected for turning to a part of the world rarely covered by the Architecture theme, but if these rumours are true – and for now, all details should be taken with the customary pinch of salt – we could be looking at something relatively novel for LEGO Architecture later this year. We’ll keep you posted.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
