Rumoured LEGO 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops needs extra set

Another addition to LEGO NINJAGO City is rumoured to be coming soon but a new tradition means it needs an accompanying model – eventually.

The LEGO NINJAGO modular cityscape is said to be expanding as soon as March as reported by itavix_bricks and cross-posted by Clay_Bricks on Reddit. While the rumour of 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops is exciting, there’s one thing it’s going to need if not at launch then at some point in the future.

Following the retirement of two LEGO NINJAGO City sets and preceding the retirement of a third in 2024 were four Micro NINJAGO City sets, recreating each of the four official entries that can be combined and rearranged to your heart’s desire.

Whether you can’t afford the full selection of NINJAGO City sets or want to plan out the perfect placement for your city, they’re an interesting group of models and all four ended up being discounted during the last LEGO Insiders Weekend.

With a fifth NINJAGO City set rumoured to be on the horizon, surely it needs its own micro model to accompany it and the rest of the micro range. Nothing of the sort is rumoured currently, but it would make a lot of sense. Such an entry doesn’t need to be released immediately either as the entirety of the micro range missed their corresponding sets’ launch years.

The fact that the four current micro models ended up being discounted permanently so soon though suggests that they may not be performing too well as LEGO Insiders rewards and this might be a reason for the LEGO Group to leave the collection as it is. That’s only speculation though and should there be another NINAGO City set, hopefully a micro version won’t be too far behind.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
