Rumoured LEGO Star Wars 2025 piece spotted early in Fortnite build

Rumoured LEGO Star Wars 2025 piece spotted early in Fortnite build

Rumours of R7-A7 in a LEGO Star Wars 2025 set may have more weight to them after an early appearance of the droid in a Fortnite build.

The four new LEGO Fortnite sets are now available, including 77073 Battle Bus, and Grab3k has been making their way through the model when they discovered an odd piece in place of the usual white dome. Instead of this piece, they discovered what is unmistakably the head of an astromech from LEGO Star Wars.

While they ask the comments what they should do with the element, the more interesting question is where this piece came from. The only droid with a similar colour scheme is R7-A7 from 2009's 7751 Ahsoka's Starfighter and Vulture Droid, but that set has long since retired and it seems unlikely that the head piece for the droid slipped into the set instead of a regular white dome element.

Instead, this seems to add some weight to the rumoured 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor, which is said to include a new version of the astromech alongside Ahsoka. It's one of several LEGO Star Wars sets rumoured for 2025 but at the time of writing it remains unconfirmed.

While the accidental element undoubtedly bears a striking resemblance to R7-A7, take this sighting with caution for now in case it ends up belonging to another droid. Still, it's hard to eschew the similarities and the rumour of a new version of the droid. Rumour has it 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor is coming in January and it's plausible that production may have started on such a set this early.

It wouldn't be the first time that a new LEGO set had been confirmed by a newly-released set. Four years ago, an element from LEGO Super Mario 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System was spotted in a Monkie Kid model, also shared on Reddit.

While we wait to see what comes for LEGO Star Wars next year following this sighting, we'd advise Grab3k to reach out to customer service and request a replacement piece. We can confirm there's not supposed to be a LEGO Star Wars astromech head in a LEGO Fortnite set and you can see how the Battle Bus is supposed to look in our in-depth review.
