Rumoured LEGO Star Wars 75371 Chewbacca wouldn’t be the first buildable character

The rumoured LEGO Star Wars 75371 Chewbacca wouldn’t be the first buildable character in the theme.

Said to be launching in September 2023 for $199.99 by Eurobricks-user FoggyFate, 75371 Chewbacca has few reported details surrounding it, other than it possibly being a buildable depiction of the Wookiee.

A buildable character is nothing new for Star Wars or the wider LEGO portfolio, though it does beg the question of what form the rumoured 75371 Chewbacca could take.

LEGO Star Wars has seen both full-sized buildable characters and busts with examples including 10018 Darth Maul, 75255 Yoda and 10186 General Grievous. Yoda is significantly shorter than Chewbacca so his builds may not be the best source of inspiration.

However, both 10018 Darth Maul and 10186 General Grevious offer an idea of what to expect for either a bust or a full figure. The price suggests that the rumoured 75371 Chewbacca could be up to double the piece count of either of these retired models.

Looking outside LEGO Star Wars, there are plenty of recent buildable characters near the reported $199.99 price range. These include 71411 The Mighty Bowser, 43179 Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and 76215 Black Panther

While Bowser, Mickey and Minnie may not have similar proportions to Chewbacca, their builds suggest that a Star Wars figure near this price range could be possible.

Alternatively, 75371 Chewbacca could be a bust of the Wookiee as done for Black Panther in 76215 Black Panther. LEGO Star Wars has a limited history with busts thanks to 10018 Darth Maul and some smaller models.

Whatever form the rumoured 75371 Chewbacca may take, remember that it is only a rumour for now and it should be taken with a heavy pinch of salt until officially confirmed.

Considering the reported price, it’s likely not going to be quite as big as the life-sized Chewbacca sculpture at the Disney Springs LEGO store in Orlando, Florida.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
