New rumours suggest LEGO Speed Champions is changing in two big ways in 2023
Fresh details around next year’s rumoured LEGO Speed Champions sets suggest the theme may be making two significant changes for 2023.
Since shifting from six studs wide to eight studs wide in 2020, LEGO Speed Champions has established a consistent format for its product line-up, which typically consists of three single cars and a pair of two-packs. The only outliers came in 2021, when a third two-pack raced on to shelves, and earlier this summer, when the theme expanded with two film-focused cars in 76911 007 Aston Martin DB5 and 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T.
A total of five sets are currently rumoured to be on the way in the first half of 2023, and history would have pointed to another mix of three single cars and two double-packs. But StoneWars has now published supposed piece counts for all five of those sets, and they don’t quite add up to that same release formula.
That’s because only one of the sets apparently includes enough parts for two vehicles, while the rest are all roughly the right amount for a single car each. Their price points back up this assertion, with four of the five sets coming in at €24.99, and the fifth – and largest – reportedly retailing for €44.99. That’s €10 extra than the price originally rumoured by Promobricks, but seems more likely for 76918’s 581 pieces.
Also new to the latest list of LEGO Speed Champions sets rumoured for 2023 is 30657, which is likely to be the theme’s fourth polybag build. It’s said to include 95 pieces, and will reportedly launch in March 2023, alongside four of the other five sets.
And therein lies the other big change for Speed Champions in 2023: according to StoneWars, 76917 Fast & Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 will actually launch in January, splitting up the theme’s initial wave of cars for the first time in years. It’s also one of only two sets in the rumoured list that we have any further details around, alongside 76916 Porsche 963.
Here’s a complete overview of all the rumoured LEGO Speed Champions 2023 sets. None of these are confirmed at this stage, so take them with the requisite pinch of salt for now.

Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
