Just as 2023’s May the 4th event includes the anniversary of Return of the Jedi, 75308 R2-D2 launched in 2021 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm. To mark this, an exclusive printed brick is featured with the informative plaque and R2-D2 figure.
75308 R2-D2‘s function mirror that of the fictional astromech and the original 10225 R2-D2 from 2012. These include moving legs, an unfolding third leg, a rotating head with periscope and lightsaber storage and contact tools in opening hatches. Out of those, the periscope and lightsaber storage compartment are completely new for 75308 R2-D2, which also comes with a scaled model of Luke’s lightsaber.
