Marvel’s upcoming Secret Invasion series on Disney+ confirms returning character

Marvel Studios has confirmed that its upcoming Secret Invasion series on Disney+ will feature the return of a fan-favourite character.

During last month’s Disney+ Day, Marvel Studios offered a small update on its forthcoming Secret Invasion series — a new logo and a first look at Nick Fury without his eye patch. Okay, so that wasn’t the most exciting news to come out of the event, but now it’s been revealed that another popular Marvel Cinematic Universe character will be joining the cast of the new show.

Marvel Studios had previously announced that Samuel L. Jackson would be returning as Nick Fury, with Ben Mendelsohn reprising his role as Talos. Now it’s been revealed that Cobie Smulders will also be back as S.H.E.I.L.D. agent Maria Hill as they take on a group of shape-shifting Skrulls who have infiltrated Earth.

Maria Hill was last seen in the post-credits sequence of Spider-Man: Far From Home, where it was revealed that the version of Nick Fury in the film had in fact been a Skrull. It wasn’t confirmed if Hill was also a Skrull or whether the version of the character in Secret Invasion will be the real deal.

A Nick Fury minifigure is included in 76184 Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack and Maria Hill last appeared as a minifigure in 40343 Spider-Man and the Museum Break In.

There’s no confirmation yet on when Secret Invasion will begin streaming on Disney+, but the series is currently in production.
